Qatar has pledged to provide the Lebanese Army with $60 million to cater to the soldiers’ salaries and basic needs, according to the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

Qatar said that this funding is to show its support for the “brotherly Lebanese people and its firm belief in the importance and necessity of joint Arab action.”

This is not the first time Qatar has shown support for Lebanon.

In July 2021 and June 2022, Qatar provided the Lebanese Army with 70 tonnes of food supplies each time.

“We will provide $60 million in aid to the army and Qatar will always help the people,” said Qatari Assistant Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Al Khulaifi to MTV. “We have many contributions to Lebanon’s health and education […].”

Qatari Minister Of Foreign Affairs also arrived in Lebanon on Thursday prior to the Arab League meeting.
